My name is Shreya Sachdev and I’m an 18 year old girl from India (New Delhi) and Switzerland (Geneva). I was born on the 27th of December in the year 2000 in Marseille, France, which is where I lived for four years. I then moved to Paris, France, which is where I lived for another four years until I moved to Geneva, Switzerland when I was eight years old and lived there for ten years. In Geneva, I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program as well as graduated from high school. Whilst I was in high school, my father shifted to Madrid, Spain due to his business and my mother continued to live with me in Geneva. Now that I have graduated high school, my mother is also moving to Madrid. Therefore, when I return from college, I will be visiting Madrid and not Geneva. I also have an older brother who is 22 years old and is currently living in Palo Alto, California.
As of September 2019, I will be attending the University of Toronto in their St.George Campus to study English and Cinema Studies. I also look forward to exploring courses in Literary Studies, Book and Media Studies, Literature and Critical Theory, Writing and Rhetoric, Drama, and even Criminology. I hope that by studying what I am passionate about, I will be able to live a healthy and happy life and will still have time to work on this website and my various other projects. University of Toronto is believed to be the place for innovation and entrepreneurship and I look forward to being part of such an open-minded community. I hope to get some work experience in Toronto’s Film Industry and then shift to Los Angeles, California to do a Master’s in Screenwriting and continue my career in writing for film and television.
I am passionate about creative writing and have published six books on Amazon. My six books consist of two novels that are each 30,000 words in length, one book of short stories that consists of 40 short stories, one book of poems that consists of 100 poems, and two books of children’s stories with one consisting of 25 short stories and the other consisting of 10 short stories with a quiz at the end of each story. I published these books when I was sixteen years old but had been working on them for two/three years prior to publication. I have also written three two-hour thriller film screenplays, one comedy film screenplay, as well as one comedy television show that consists of eight twenty minute episodes. My screenplays, however, are not selling anywhere at the moment. When it comes to creative writing, I prefer to write thriller and comedy screenplays for films, as well as comedy screenplays for television shows because this is where my passion truly lies. I aspire to go into the entertainment industry and become a professional screenwriter and win the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Therefore, I spend the majority of my time writing screenplays for movies and television shows and constantly have many ideas and works in progress.
Over the past few years, I have entered several national and international creative writing competitions such as Shepton Mallet Snowdrop Poetry Competition, GlimmerTrain Press Short Story Award, The Masters Review Short Story Award, Writer’s Digest Annual Writing Competition, Commonwealth Short Story Prize, The Sun Short Story Award, Drue Heinz Literature Prize, Tufts Poetry Awards, and many others which I have enjoyed participating in and have had the opportunity to showcase my work to a wider audience.
I have also recently partnered with “Teach For India” a nonprofit organization that helps educate children that are living in poverty and helps provide supplies to low income schools. I write my own children’s stories and send them to the organization which then distributes the stories to schools and children all over India. My stories are also presented on their company’s website. Therefore, my writing is hopefully able to make a difference and able to educate children living in India.
Aside from screenwriting, I enjoy researching unsolved criminal cases, reviewing and analyzing books, films, and television shows, watching Youtube videos, listening to music, going swimming, reading the news and knowing what’s happening in the world around me, learning about medieval European history, and filling my brain with useless yet interesting and random facts. I am also fluent in three languages: English, French, and Hindi. I am tidy, organized, kind, punctual, ambitious, and reliable, and you honestly couldn’t find a better person to work with.
Unlike most websites, my website doesn’t have much of a specific theme at play here. That means that one week I might be writing about my profound interest in entrepreneurship and business whilst the other I might be writing about the unsolved murder of JonBenét Ramsey. However, everything that I write about is something that is of deep interest to me and something that I'm always excited about writing and discussing about.
