Secret Obsession (2019) - Shreya Sachdev
Secret Obsession is a 2019 thriller film directed by Peter Sullivan and stars Brenda Song, Mike Vogel, Ashley Scott, and Dennis Haysbert. Secret Obsession is about a woman (played by Brenda Song) who gets into a terrible car accident and wakes up only to realize that she cannot remember anything. Fortunately, her husband is there with her at the hospital when she wakes up and he is able to tell her that they have a family together and that he is going to take care of her when they get back home. Whilst at first this man seems like a caring husband, soon enough it is clear to the audience that this man is not who he says he is. Now, it is up to this injured woman to free herself and figure out who she really is and where her family is. Therefore, this entire story revolves around this woman trying to escape her husband whilst also being in a critical condition. Honestly, I was excited for this movie because I thought that it had an interesting plot line, and I’ve also never seen Brenda Song in a thriller movie. Of course, we all know her from playing “London” on the Suite Life of Zack & Cody, so I was definitely looking forward to seeing what Brenda Song can do in a thriller film. Honestly, I thought that her acting was excellent and that she played her role extremely well. The issue with this movie is not in the acting, but is just in the plot itself. This movie lacks execution. There are so many unfinished questions at the end of the movie and characters which come and go with no explanation that the movie becomes very confusing. I didn’t enjoy this movie and would not recommend it. I would give it a 5/10.
