Always Be My Maybe (2019) - Shreya Sachdev
Always Be My Maybe is a 2019 comedy and romance film directed by Nahnatchka Khan and stars Ali Wong, Randall Park, Keanu Reeves, Daniel Dae Kim, Michelle Buteau, Vivian Bang, James Saito, and many others. Always Be My Maybe is about two childhood sweethearts (played by Ali Wong and Randall Park) who have not seen each other in over sixteen years. One day, they meet again and whilst they have both changed, there’s no denying that in some ways they are still the same people. One is a celebrity chef and the other plays in a small band. Soon, they begin to hang out more and more just like they used to as kids. They realize how much they love spending time together, and soon enough they both begin to wonder whether or not they’re made for each other. Therefore, this entire story revolves around how these two characters finally allow themselves to accept the fact that they need to get back together and the conflicting thoughts they have throughout this process. I had heard a lot about this movie, and so I decided to watch it last night. I’m glad I did, because I really enjoyed it. Right away from the beginning, I could see how close these two characters were and could really feel the awkwardness yet excitement that these two characters had when they met again after so many years. There’s a lot of really great comedy in this movie and scenes that will really make you laugh. I would recommend this movie and give it an 8/10.
