Stranger Things Season Two (2017) - Shreya Sachdev

Stranger Things Season 2 takes off right where Season 1 ended. Will Byers is now safe home and both his mother, brother, and friends are thrilled to have him back. Meanwhile, Chief Hopper is keeping Eleven in his house far from the outside world so that she stays hidden and kept safe since Chief Hopper knows that it's not safe for Eleven to be back out yet, which is evident when we see how Will still feels a strange connection to the upside down. This season introduces three new characters, one of them being Maxine (played by Sadie Sink) who joins the boys' friend group. We are also introduced to Maxine's older brother, Billy, played by Dacre Montgomery. Lastly, we also meet Bob Newby (played by Sean Astin) who becomes Joyce's boyfriend in the second season. I really enjoyed the second season of Stranger Things because I believe the Duffer Brothers did an excellent job at keeping the tension high and keeping the audience engaged. However, I did have an issue with the seventh episode of the second season simply because I didn't think that it fit in anywhere in the show; it literally seems as if it belongs to another show because we see none of the main characters except for Eleven, and that episode serves no purpose for the later shows that are to come. I also think that Maxine (known as MadMax) is a fun addition to the show but mainly because she causes drama between Mike and the boys, since the boys want her to join but Mike doesn't. I also thought that Eleven was too jealous in the episode where she sees Mike and Maxine talking to each other, because even though it's normal for girls to get jealous when they see their crush talking with another girl, they are only thirteen years old and I thought it was just a little bit too dramatic. Other than this, I think Stranger Things Season 2 brought up a lot of suspense at the necessary moments and made some great character shifts, between Nancy and Jonathon, Joyce and Chief Hopper, as well as Steve and the boys. I think that the Duffer Brothers knew exactly when to add comedy to certain moments in the show, which is what this season flow so well. I would give Stranger Things Season 2 a 9/10.
