Delhi Crime (2019) - Shreya Sachdev
Delhi Crime is an Indian drama television show directed by Richie Mehta and stars Shefali Shah, Yashaswini Dayama, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, and many more. Delhi Crime is based on the true story of the 2012 gang rape that occurred in India and involved six men beating and raping a 23 year old woman. This crime shook India, and as a result there was much more serious attention towards rape and the safety of women. I want to start off by saying that I absolutely loved this show. What I liked the most about it is that it wasn’t a documentary, but was rather a proper television show that clearly showed the audience how the six criminals involved in the gang rape were caught, the methods they used to find the rapists, how hard the police worked and how they barely got any sleep, how they dealt with not seeing their family, and also how they dealt with the media and public outrage. This television show will have you binge watching the entire series in one day, as the episode usually ends with a cliffhanger. The episodes are a great insight into how police investigations work, and the methods (biological and psychological) the use to catch the culprits. The fact that these criminals were caught within almost five days of the rape is extremely impressive, and made me thoroughly appreciate Delhi’s police team regarding this case. Overall, the cinematography is great, the acting is amazing, and the screenplay is incredible. I would definitely recommend Delhi Crime and would give it a 10/10.
