Workin' Moms Season One (2017) - Shreya Sachdev
Workin’ Moms Season One is created by Catherine Reitman and Philip Sternberg and stars Catherine Reitman and Philip Sternberg themselves, Danielle Kind, Juno Ruddell, Jessalyn Wanlim, and many others. Workin’ Moms revolves around the story of four moms who must balance their marriage life, their kid’s needs, their work life, and their social life, but are struggling to do so. Therefore, this show is about the relationships that these mothers make with each other through these difficult times and how they sacrifice things they want for their family and their work. Honestly, I had heard really good things about this show but the real reason I wanted to watch it was because it is filmed in Toronto, Ontario, and obviously I’m moving to Toronto in less than three weeks so I wanted to watch a show that highlighted Toronto’s best features and showed its amazing skyscrapers so that I could get in the mood for moving there. For the show itself, I would say that whilst there is good chemistry between the characters and that they each have their individual personality, the show just isn’t funny. What this show is missing is strong dialogue and actual jokes. At times, this show attempts to make a joke or get the audience to laugh, and I personally just don’t find the dialogue to be amusing. With some screenplay improvement, I think this show could really be something. For now, I would give this show a 6/10.
